Noticing the Unnoticed

I’ve been using this tool for years but only just noticed what’s going on inside.

I’m not sure how the wax got so far into the inside of the snuff, because I try to hold the bell over the candle until it uses up the oxygen and extinguishes itself. I almost always use cream or natural colored tapers, so the drops have been blackened by smoke.

This table by our library window, which looks out over a covered porch, is my favorite place to photograph things. I like shooting in the early morning natural light there. It’s also where I write first thing most mornings.
